SCHENKER VISION 14: 1000 gram ultrabook with magnesium chassis and 3K 16:10 display

Leipzig, Germany, June 9th 2021 – The SCHENKER VISION 14 adds an ultra-portable 14 inch laptop, with state-of-the-art features and a weight of just one kilogram, to the VISION model series. This is made possible by an elegant lightweight, magnesium unibody chassis. The most striking features include a high-resolution 3K IPS display in a practical 16:10 format and Intel's Tiger Lake processors up to the Core i7-1165G7 offering plenty of office and multimedia performance. The VISION 14 demonstrates that a decidedly thin-and-light concept, configuration flexibility and excellent connectivity are not mutually exclusive. With a wide range of features including Thunderbolt 4, two M.2 SSD slots and expandable rather than soldered memory, the laptop is a total professional package for demanding business and multimedia users.

Discreet elegance, high efficiency and modern functionality in perfect harmony

Given a weight of barely one kilogram, the SCHENKER VISION 14 (M21) is one of the world's lightest 14 inch laptops (effective weight depending on configuration - 980 to 1030 grams). A unibody chassis made of an AZ91D magnesium alloy not only contributes to an elegant look and high-quality feel, but also underpins the laptop's high-end ambitions by utilising the material’s optimal thermal characteristics. The built in Tiger Lake processors from the 11th Core generation can permanently maintain the maximum TDP of up to 28 watts under load, while many other laptops in the thin-and-light segment already draw the line at 15 watts. The choice is between the Core i5-1135G7 and the slightly faster Core i7-1165G7; each with four cores, eight threads and a powerful, integrated Xe graphics unit with advanced functions for hardware acceleration of HEVC, VP9 or AV1 video material. Additional benefits of the modern platform include support for the latest technologies such as Thunderbolt 4 and PCI Express 4.0. The VISION 14 makes an elegant impression, and not only due to its slim construction height of 13.6 to 15.6 mm; an ultra-narrow bezel display - just 4 mm wide on the left and right side - further emphasises the modern design. Nevertheless, this doesn’t come at expense of an inferior webcam position; being favourably positioned at the top edge of the display and so providing a more attractive recording angle.

True colour 16:10 display options with up to 3K resolution

The flagship configuration of the SCHENKER VISION 14 features a high-quality IPS panel with a razor-sharp resolution of 2880 x 1880 pixels. In addition to a high brightness of 380 nits, the model offers over 99 percent coverage of the sRGB colour space, thus meeting the requirements of high colour fidelity for content creation applications. In addition, there is a refresh rate of 90 Hz for smooth visualisation. Alternatively, an extended Full HD display with 1920 x 1200 pixels and brightness of 330 nits is available, which covers over 95 per cent of the sRGB colour space. Both display options are factory pre-calibrated. Users can download the respective individual ICC colour profile with just one mouse click via the Control Center, install it and integrate it into the regular Windows colour management. Both also feature the practical 16:10 screen format, which offers a slightly larger vertical viewing area than conventional 16:9 laptop monitors – an advantage when working with professional image and video editing programs, word processing software, and more. Thanks to an opening angle of up to 160 degrees, the display can be flexibly adjusted to any viewing position.

Ultra-portable with a twist: professional storage and connectivity options

Despite its ultra-light and slim design, the SCHENKER VISION 14 dispenses entirely with inflexible, permanently soldered memory components. Instead, there are two SO-DIMM slots for up to 64 GB DDR4-3200 RAM and two PCI Express M.2 SSD slots. The primary M.2 slot is connected via four PCIe 4.0 lanes and thermally linked to the chassis by a heat conducting pad - ideal to unlock the full performance potential of the fastest storage drives. Particularly in the premium ultrabook segment, many manufacturers focus on functional minimalism - those who seek more flexibility are often forced to resort to a considerable number of adapters. The VISION 14 solves this by providing a high level of native connectivity straight out-of-the-box. This includes a DisplayPort-capable USB-C port that also allows charging via an external USB-C power supply, two USB-A ports, a 2-in-1 audio jack as well as an HDMI output and a full-size SD card reader. Adding Thunderbolt 4, the laptop also provides a versatile high-performance interface, including an integrated DisplayPort stream and support for monitors up to 8K resolution. Consequently, the SCHENKER VISION 14 boasts the ability to simultaneously connect up to three external monitors, in addition to its internal display.

High precision keyboard and large glass touchpad

A keyboard designed for long-term use with two-stage, neutral white backlighting, clearly defined actuation point and comfortable key travel distance provides perfect feedback when typing - features that often fall by the wayside, especially in the thin-and-light segment. As a convenient extra, the keyboard comes with Fn-Lock control. This allows the function of the F-keys to be permanently assigned to a secondary operation, such as volume control or screen brightness. The keyboard is supported by a generously dimensioned, Microsoft Precision-compliant glass touchpad with a gliding surface of around 13 x 8 cm.
