SCHENKER KEY 17 Pro: Well-equipped high-performance workstation with Core i9-13900HX, maximum GeForce RTX 4090 and high-resolution, true-colour displays

Leipzig, Germany, March 16th 2023 – Schenker Technologies presents the SCHENKER KEY 17 Pro, the most powerful workstation in the 2023 SCHENKER portfolio. Intel's Core i9-13900HX and either an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 or 4080 provide top-class performance. In addition, the laptop features high-resolution 4K or WQHD displays with at least 99 percent coverage of the sRGB and extended DCI-P3 colour space. In combination with the extensive connectivity and the possibility of installing up to three M.2 SSDs, the high-performance workstation not only addresses creative professionals but also meets the high requirements for virtual reality and 3D CAD applications or real-time rendering.

High-performance components in a robust aluminium chassis with a 99 Wh battery

The SCHENKER KEY 17 Pro adds a performance-focused top model to the SCHENKER KEY series. The laptop, which has been newly designed from the ground up, uses the Core i9-13900HX, one of the highest-performance new mobile processors from Intel. The HX designation indicates its proximity to desktop processors - accordingly the model is equipped with 24 cores (8 performance, 16 efficiency cores), 32 threads and a 36 MB cache. On the graphics card side, SCHENKER offers a choice of the two fastest new laptop graphics cards from NVIDIA: The KEY 17 Pro can be configured with a GeForce RTX 4090 with 16 GB or an RTX 4080 with 12 GB GDDR6 VRAM.

These demanding components are also taken into account by the cooling system. The laptop features a massive composite cooling system with large copper elements for the heatspreaders, which also optimally cool additional areas such as the VRAM, MOSEFETs and the Intel HM770 PCH. This allows the GPU, for example, to work permanently with the highest possible graphics performance of up to 175 watts (150 W TGP plus 25 W Dynamic Boost 2.0).

In order to achieve a high-quality feel and excellent stability, SCHENKER almost completely uses aluminium for the chassis (display lid, top shell, bottom shell). The laptop, equipped with a 99 Wh battery, weighs around 3.4 kg, but with dimensions of 396 x 278 x 24.9 mm it is comparatively slim considering its position in the desktop replacement performance class.

High precision displays for colour-accurate work, including 4K option

SCHENKER offers a choice of two 17.3-inch IPS displays in 16:9 format for the KEY 17 Pro. Both the WQHD panel with 2,560 x 1,440 pixels and the high-resolution UHD panel with 3,840 x 2,160 pixels cover at least 99 percent of the sRGB and the extended DCI-P3 colour space. This makes the displays ideal for professional image and video editing. Both support NVIDIA G-SYNC and a high refresh rate: the 300 nits bright WQHD panel runs at an impressive 240 Hz, whilst the 400 nits bright UHD panel offers a maximum of 144 Hz. This means that the displays are also perfectly suitable for a gaming session after work.

If desired, the refresh rate can be adjusted to 60 Hz. In this case, the user benefits from optimal synchronisation when working with 60 and 30 FPS video material. The SCHENKER KEY 17 Pro supports Advanced Optimus for automatic switching of the display connection between the powerful NVIDIA graphics card and the energy-efficient Intel iGPU during operation. Alternatively, it is possible to switch the connection manually via a MUX switch.

Ready for up to three M.2 SSDs and fast DDR5-5600 RAM

The KEY 17 Pro is currently the only SCHENKER laptop with three slots for M.2 SSDs. The primary M.2 slot is already connected via PCI Express 5.0 and thus future-proof: corresponding storage drives compatible with laptops are not yet widely available. However, the slot is backward compatible with the currently common PCI Express 4.0 standard, which is also the standard for the two additional M.2 slots. All three are individually connected via four lanes and are equipped with a heat conducting pad, which makes contact with the aluminium bottom shell of the laptop for improved heat dissipation and allowing a permanently high write performance.

In addition, the laptop accommodates up to 64 GB of plugged-in DDR5 memory and supports a maximum clock frequency of 5600 MHz at CL46 latencies. However, 32 GB modules are currently only available in dual-rank configuration - with maximum memory configuration, only 5200 MHz at CL42 latencies are possible according to Intel's specifications.

Two Thunderbolt 4 ports and VR-compatible graphics interfaces

All graphics outputs of the SCHENKER KEY 17 Pro are connected to the dedicated NVIDIA GPU. This applies to HDMI 2.1, a Mini DisplayPort 1.4a and two Thunderbolt 4 ports with integrated DisplayPort stream. Considering this specification, the laptop is compatible with all current virtual reality headsets - including the professional high-end HMDs Varjo VR-3 and XR-3, which require two DisplayPort connections. The workstation also supports up to four active displays and can therefore manage a maximum of three external monitors in addition to its internal display. For network connections, either a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port or Wi-Fi 6E are available, both based on well-proven Intel chipsets. Additional features include two USB-A 3.2 Gen2 ports and separate audio jacks for headphones (compatible with combo plug headsets) and microphone (with S/PDIF support).

The Full HD resolution webcam is Windows Hello compatible and features Temporal Noise Reduction for improved transmission quality. In addition, the KEY 17 Pro offers a keyboard with a full-size numeric pad, large arrow keys, additional function keys and dedicated navigation keys, as well as multi-level adjustable LED per key illumination with free RGB colour selection.
