XMG expands its line-up of 17.3-inch laptops with the new XMG APEX 17, complementing the previously released FOCUS 17. Unlike the Intel-based FOCUS model, the APEX 17 is powered by an AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060. The laptop features an IPS display with WQHD resolution, 240 Hz refresh rate, and 100 per cent coverage of both sRGB and DCI-P3 colour spaces.
The XMG APEX 17 (M25) is designed with a strong focus on CPU performance, featuring AMD’s high-end Ryzen 9 9955HX with 16 cores and 32 threads – built on the same architecture as AMD’s desktop processors.
Graphics are handled by an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060, running at its full 115-watt graphics power including Dynamic Boost. XMG plans to offer a GeForce RTX 5070 as an optional upgrade at some point in the first quarter of 2026.
Housed in a 402 x 265 x 28.6 mm chassis with an aluminium display lid, the 17.3-inch laptop weighs approximately 2.8 kg, including a 73 Wh battery.
While the 16:10 display format is more common in 2025, the classic 16:9 aspect ratio continues to enjoy strong demand – particularly in models like the XMG FOCUS 17. As part of the ‘BLACK DEALS’ discount campaign currently running at XMG’s partner shop, bestware.com, this model makes up 18 percent of all laptops sold. The attractive price of the FOCUS 17, equipped with an RTX 5070 Ti, certainly contributes to this trend.
The XMG APEX 17 uses the same IPS panel with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. It covers 100 per cent of both the DCI-P3 and sRGB colour spaces, offers a 240 Hz refresh rate, and 300 nits of brightness – making it an excellent choice for creative work such as video editing or colour-accurate design and high FPS gaming.
A MUX switch allows users to permanently switch the display connection to the dedicated NVIDIA dGPU for maximum performance. The laptop also includes a Full HD webcam with temporal noise reduction and a physical privacy shutter, integrated at the top of the screen.
The XMG APEX 17 supports extensive memory and storage configurations. Two M.2 slots with PCI Express 4.0 connectivity allow for a total SSD storage capacity of up to 16 TB, with thermal pads helping to maintain optimal temperatures and consistent performance under load. Additionally, two SO-DIMM slots support up to 128 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM.
XMG has positioned key connectivity options on the rear of the APEX 17, including Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI 2.1 (48 Gbps), USB-C 3.2 Gen2 with integrated DisplayPort 1.4a, and the power supply connector. Additional ports on the sides include USB-A 3.2 Gen2 and Gen1, a 2-in-1 audio jack for headset and microphone, and another USB-C 3.2 Gen2 with integrated DisplayPort 2.1 (DP40) and 100 W Power Delivery.
In addition to its internal display, the XMG APEX 17 can natively drive up to three external monitors. The HDMI 2.1 and the DisplayPort 2.1-enabled USB-C ports are directly connected to the powerful NVIDIA dGPU, while the DisplayPort 1.4a-enabled USB-C port is routed through the AMD iGPU. NVIDIA Optimus switches between these GPUs depending on performance and efficiency needs.
The full-size keyboard features customisable multi-colour LED backlighting, Fn-Lock, full-size arrow keys, and a dedicated numeric keypad. Completing the input setup is a 150 x 90 mm touchpad with a glass-like surface.
The base configuration of the XMG APEX 17 (M25), which can be freely configured on bestware.com, includes an AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060, 16 (2 x 8) GB DDR5-5600 RAM, a 1 TB SSD, and a 240 Hz fast 1440p IPS display with 100% sRGB and DCI-P3 colour space coverage. The starting price is €1,699, including 19% VAT. A further configuration option, featuring an optional upgrade to the RTX 5070, is expected in the first quarter of 2026.
The laptop is available for pre-order with immediate effect and is expected to be in stock from the end of November. As part of the ongoing BLACK DEALS promotion, bestware.com is offering a 5 per cent discount on the APEX 17 until December 2nd – reducing the starting price to €1,614.05.
