XMG has introduced the 2025 version of the XMG PRO 16, a gaming and multimedia workstation, featuring an entirely new design. Traditionally positioned in the upper performance segment, the laptop is offered in two versions – both equipped with NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5070 Ti. The top-tier model features an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX and includes advanced functionality such as Thunderbolt, CSO DIMM support, and a PCIe 5.0 interface for the primary SSD. A more affordable alternative is also available, based on the Intel Core i9-13900HX, which delivers strong performance at a more accessible price point. In terms of design and specifications, the PRO 16 closely resembles XMG’s high-end XMG NEO 16, sharing key elements such as connectivity, a 99.8 Wh battery, and a 300 Hz 1600p display with 100% sRGB colour space coverage.
The XMG PRO 16 (E25) can be seen as a more affordable sibling to XMG’s top-tier NEO 16, offering many of the same features at a lower price point. It comes equipped with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti graphics card featuring 12 GB of GDDR7 VRAM and a maximum graphics performance of 140 watts, including Dynamic Boost. For the processor, users can choose between two 24-core options: the Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX or the Core i9-13900HX, the latter providing high performance at a significantly lower cost.
Compared to the NEO 16, the PRO 16 features a thinner and lighter design. The chassis, which includes an aluminium display lid, measures 357 x 252.5 x 26.5 mm and weighs 2.42 kg. The laptop includes a large 99.8 Wh battery, while the 240 W power supply is compact and lightweight, measuring 125 x 70 x 25 mm and weighing 611 g including the EU power cable, made possible by the use of SiC technology.
The composite heat pipe cooling system in the XMG PRO 16 is slightly more compact, featuring two 80 mm fans and two rear air outlets with 100 copper cooling fins. In addition, the laptop draws in extra air through the keyboard area and uses Honeywell PTM7958 thermal pads on both the processor and the graphics card. This setup is more than sufficient to maintain consistently high performance from both the CPU and the RTX 5070 Ti:
CPU: sustained | 135 W |
GPU: sustained | 140 W |
CPU & GPU: sustained | 195 W |
For further optimisation, the BIOS and XMG Control Center provide extensive tuning options. The XMG PRO 16 supports XMP profiles, RAM tuning, CPU undervolting, and includes a BIOS recovery function for added security in the event of overly ambitious tuning. Users can also adjust power limits for both the CPU and GPU, as well as customise fan curves. These features make it easy to achieve a personal balance between performance and quiet operation – should the three predefined performance profiles not already fulfil individual preferences.
The PRO 16 features a 16-inch display in a 16:10 format with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels. It supports one-handed opening, offers a high refresh rate of 300 Hz, reaches a brightness of 500 nits, and covers 100 percent of the sRGB colour space.
All XMG PRO 16 models feature two DDR5 RAM slots and two M.2 SSD slots. The use of heat shields and thermal pads helps to reduce the temperature of the installed components. As exclusive features, the model with the Core Ultra 9 275HX offers PCI Express 5.0 x4 connectivity for the primary SSD and support for CSO DIMM RAM at speeds of up to 6400 MT/s. In the configuration with the i9-13900HX, both M.2 SSDs use PCI Express 4.0 x4, and DDR5 SO-DIMM memory can be configured at up to 5600 MT/s – higher speeds are possible through the RAM tuning options mentioned previously.
XMG has since approved a maximum memory configuration of 128 GB for the NEO 16 (E25) with an Intel processor. This option is also available for the PRO 16 with the Core Ultra 9 275HX. When configured with the i9-13900HX, the maximum supported RAM currently remains limited to 96 GB.
The XMG PRO 16 offers extensive connectivity, with many ports located on the rear of the device. These include a DC power jack, a Mini DisplayPort 2.1 (DP80), HDMI 2.1, and a USB-C port. On models with the Core Ultra 9 275HX, the USB-C port supports Thunderbolt 4 with DisplayPort 2.1, while on the i9-13900HX version, it is implemented as USB-C 3.2 Gen2 with DisplayPort 1.4. Both versions support Power Delivery up to 140 watts.
On the sides, the laptop features three USB-A 3.2 Gen1 ports, an additional USB-C 3.2 Gen2 port with full functionality, 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet, a high-speed full-size SD card reader with SD Express compatibility, and a 2-in-1 audio jack for headset and microphone. Wireless networking is handled via Wi-Fi 6E. Unlike the NEO 16, the PRO 16 does not include a port for the XMG OASIS water cooling system. Instead, it features 34 air vents covering almost the entire rear side – more than those found on the NEO 16.
In addition to its internal display, the XMG PRO 16 supports native connectivity for up to four external monitors. The Mini DisplayPort and HDMI outputs are connected directly to the dedicated NVIDIA graphics card, while both USB-C ports operate via the Intel processor’s iGPU.
The PRO 16 inherits the input devices from XMG’s flagship NEO 16. The keyboard features RGB per-key illumination and benefits from the same improved scissor-switch mechanisms. It includes a full numeric keypad, full-size offset arrow keys, anti-ghosting, and N-key rollover. Complementing the keyboard is a generously sized 123 x 77.5 mm touchpad with a glass-like mylar surface that offers a smooth gliding experience, comparable to previous glass touchpads. The laptop is also equipped with a Full HD webcam featuring a physical privacy shutter.
The base configuration of the XMG PRO 16 (E25), which can be freely configured on bestware.com, includes an Intel Core i9-13900HX, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, 16 GB DDR5-5600 RAM, a 500 GB Kingston Fury Renegade SSD and a 300 Hz 1600p IPS display. The starting price is €1,999, including 19% VAT. An upgrade to Intel’s Core Ultra 9 275HX including support for a PCIe 5.0 SSD, CSO DIMM RAM and Thunderbolt 4 is available for €245.
