The SCHENKER DTR 17 embodies a rigorously performance-focused yet mobile desktop replacement solution. This high-end laptop therefore masters even the most computationally intensive tasks in the shortest possible time - whether it is professional processing of high-resolution image and video material, real-time calculations for the presentation of virtual reality content, compiling complex program code or other performance-sensitive applications. Thanks to Intel's tenth-core desktop processors and the fastest NVIDIA graphics chips available, the series, which has been evaluated for maximum compatibility and long-term stability, is positioned in the same performance segment as high-end desktop workstations designed for stationary use.
To ensure the optimum operating environment for the hardware of the SCHENKER DTR 17, which is considerably more powerful thanks to the generational leap, the laptop uses a completely newly developed and in many points improved cooling system. In the top-of-the-range version, this ensures stable continuous operation of Intel's Core i9-10900K ten-core desktop processor and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER, which can operate continuously at the limit of the maximum performance available. One of the factors contributing to the longevity is a well thought-out self-cleaning function: While the fans are equipped with a reverse function to continuously clean dirt particles from the cooling fins inside the laptop even during continuous operation, an integrated anti-dust tunnel guides intruding dust directly back outside during operation. As a result, the laptop is characterized by significantly reduced maintenance requirements, reliable maximum performance and excellent operating temperatures.
Additional features include a high-capacity 97 Wh battery, a built-in 2.1 sound system for powerful sound in mobile use and a precise full-size keyboard with first-class pressure point, separate numeric keypad and individually adjustable LED per-key backlight, which ensures optimum visibility of the key labeling.
The SCHENKER DTR 17 offers creative professionals a tailor-made display solution: The high-resolution UHD display is based on IPS technology with stable viewing angle and combines a high-contrast and colour-intensive display with excellent black values. Users in the field of image and video processing benefit from a remarkably accurate display: The coverage of the Adobe RGB colour space is 100 percent.
Users who do not need an integrated display for 4K content can alternatively use an IPS-based Full HD display, which covers 100 percent of the sRGB colour space. The smaller model also features a fast refresh rate of 240 Hz. Both display options support NVIDIA G-SYNC to synchronize the graphics card and display to eliminate unwanted tearing effects when displaying fast moving images.
Intel's reliable Socket 1200 platform makes it possible for the first time to accommodate the computing power of up to ten desktop processor cores in a professional laptop, tailored to highly parallelized applications: The top model of the SCHENKER DTR 17 uses the new Intel Core i9-10900K, which is characterized by excellent single- and multi-threading performance.
With a basic clock rate of 3.7 GHz and up to 5.3 GHz using Turbo Boost, the impressively high-performance CPU processes up to 20 threads. Thanks to the excellent cooling system, the notebook is able to permanently call up the maximum possible clock frequencies in the respective load scenario: The processor works without TDP restriction at a full 125 watts.
The SCHENKER DTR 17 comes with a selection of the fastest mobile graphics chips available. In its most powerful configuration, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER comes into play in the Max-P full configuration and with the maximum possible TGP of 200 watts. The generously dimensioned cooling system again provides the basis for graphics card operation without thermal limitations. GPU-accelerated applications benefit significantly from a substantial performance increase compared to the nominally identical RTX 2080 models in slim notebooks with lower reserves for component cooling.
This performance boost is highly beneficial for a wide range of professional multimedia applications, which can also take advantage of NVIDIA RTX exclusive real-time ray tracing technology. With dedicated tensor cores and the completely revised Deep Learing Super Sampling 2.0 (DLSS 2.0), these graphics cards also accelerate computing processes in the field of artificial intelligence, GPU-based machine learning and neural network training. With the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER and RTX 2070 Refresh, even the two smaller configuration options deliver a convincing performance and are also characterized by a particularly attractive price/performance ratio.
With up to 128 GB DDR4 RAM arranged in four SO-DIMM slots, the SCHENKER DTR 17 holds even large data sets directly in the main memory for the fastest possible processing. The support of XMP profiles enables the optional use of higher clocking high-performance RAM with low latencies. The desktop replacement laptop also includes extensive options for configuration with regard to fast M.2 SSDs. A total of four slots are available here for modern mass storage drives.
In addition, the SCHENKER DTR 17 supports various RAID modes: RAID level 0 distributes the data to two drives by striping and offers the highest data throughput with parallel storage access, while RAID level 1 mirrors all contents redundantly on two drives and maintains data availability in the event of an SSD failure. If at least three M.2 drives are used, they can also be combined into a RAID 5 array, which offers the best possible compromise between increased read speed and improved data availability.
As an extraordinarily flexible mobile computing solution for use in the most diverse application environments, the SCHENKER DTR 17 impresses with its numerous external ports. These include USB-C 3.2 Gen2x2, three USB-A 3.2 Gen2 ports and a Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C 3.2 Gen2 connection, each with its own DisplayPort stream. Additional peripherals for displaying content are connected via an NVIDIA-G-SYNC compatible Mini DisplayPort 1.4 or an HDCP-compatible HDMI 2.0 output. This allows the laptop to control up to three monitors in addition to its own display.
The wired network connection is via a high-throughput 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet connection, while the SCHENKER DTR 17 wirelessly transmits via a WiFi-6 module. The headphone output and microphone input are separate connections, and the microphone input can alternatively transfer an optical S/PDIF signal. The fast data exchange between the laptop and a photo or video camera is achieved via a factory-installed SD card reader, which impresses with an impressive speed thanks to a modern connection via a UHS-III interface.
