Varjo’s Bionic Display™ makes VR-1 the world's only VR device with human-eye resolution. Designed for use in complex and demanding industries, VR-1 also features the world’s most advanced eye tracking technology and is compatible with the most popular 3D software tools.
VR-1 comes with the highest-end features, made without compromises – from light, optical fiber cabling and active airflow to incredibly accurate, integrated eye tracking and more.
The resolution of other VR devices on the market is just a fraction of what the average human eye can see. With resolution that poor, it’s been impossible for professionals to work with VR in fields where extreme precision and visual fidelity are required. Now, Varjo’s Bionic Display™ delivers an unprecedented resolution of 60 pixels per degree – the equivalent of 20/20 vision.
With Bionic Display™, CADs, renders and simulations come to life in VR with never-before-seen clarity. Every detail, texture, contour and color are all just as crisp and clear as they are in the real world. You can read the smallest text and see objects at a distance. And real-time illumination appears just as it does in the real world.
Varjo’s 20/20 Eye Tracker™ is the most advanced and powerful stereo eye tracking technology ever integrated into a VR headset, delivering unmatched accuracy and precision.
20/20 Eye Tracker™ works by reflecting images onto the eye and tracking them algorithmically. Designed entirely by Varjo’s engineers and optical design team to work with our human-eye resolution, VR-1 is the only device and platform in the world that can use eye tracking data with VR content that simulates reality.
Varjo’s 20/20 Tracker™ gives professionals access to eye data for use in research, analytics, training and simulation, industrial design, and more.
VR-1 joins forces with the world’s most powerful professional tools and 3D engines to transform work in complex and design-driven industries like training and simulation, architecture, engineering and construction, and industrial design.
With human-eye resolution plus simple and seamless integration to Unreal®, Unity®, Autodesk VRED®, Prepar3D®, and other industry-specific engines, VR-1 is the only device that can be used in fields requiring the highest visual fidelity and precision.
Whatever engine you use, VR-1 lets you design and train in a completely realistic VR environment, bringing every detail of your CADs, renders and simulations to life with never-before-seen clarity.
Bionic Display™ with resolution at over 20/20 vision (over 60 PPD / 3000 PPI), flicker-free screen refresh at 60/90 Hz. Combining two 1920x1080 low persistence micro-OLEDs and two 1440x1600 low persistence AMOLEDs.
Dual lens design combining different refractive index lenses for minimal color aberrations, zero ghost rays, and minimal reflections. Each surface coating has been methodically designed to maximize the brightness and clarity of the light fusion needed to achieve human-eye resolution.
Infinite contrast ratio (over 10000:1) enabling the deepest blacks and individually calibrated colors, delivering outstanding accuracy and image quality.
Active airflow system, adjustable and detachable headband and head strap, comfortable usage with two different sized, easily replaceable face cushions and automatic interpupillary distance (IPD) adjustment for easy and accurate calibration when switching headset users.
VR-1 is compatible with Steam VR™ and ART tracking technology. You can use the Steam VR™ compatible controllers you’re already using to get the most out of your device. Please note that Varjo VR-1 isn’t currently compatible with Steam VR™ content or the Steam VR™ store.
Thin and light optical fiber cables of 10-meter length with USB-C. Link box for easy connection with PC.
605 g (+ headband)
Industrial-grade, sub-degree accuracy integrated 100hz stereo eye tracking delivering unmatched accuracy and precision. Made to work seamlessly with Varjo’s Bionic Display™ to track eye movement in human-eye resolution.
Base Stations (mandatory)Base stations are used for the positional tracking of the headset. If you already have SteamVR™ 1.0 or 2.0 base stations, your device will work seamlessly with them. If you don’t have base stations, you’ll need to purchase them separately. We recommend using two base stations. VR-1 is also compatible with ART tracking.
Controllers (optional)Controllers are used for interacting with virtual objects. VR-1 can be used without controllers, but your VR application might have specific interactions that require using a controller. If you want to use apps with controller-based interactions, VR-1 can be paired with all SteamVR™-compatible controllers.
Setting up the Varjo VR-1 is pretty straightforward and explained in the user guide step by step.
