XMG APEX 17: 17.3-inch laptop with Ryzen 9 9955HX and RTX 5060

XMG's 17.3-inch laptop lineup, featuring a 16:9 display instead of the traditional 16:10, is expanding with the addition of the XMG APEX 17. Following the FOCUS 17 with an Intel CPU, introduced this summer, the APEX 17 now boasts an AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 graphics card. This model also utilizes an IPS panel with WQHD resolution, a 240 Hz refresh rate, and 100% sRGB and DCI-P3 color gamut coverage.

The XMG APEX 17 (M25) focuses on CPU performance and integrates one of AMD's top models, the Ryzen 9 9955HX. This processor offers 16 cores, 32 threads, and is based on the same fundamental design as the manufacturer's desktop processors.

At launch, the laptop will exclusively use an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 GPU with the maximum graphics power of 115 watts for this model, including Dynamic Boost. XMG plans to offer a GeForce RTX 5070 as an optional upgrade in the first quarter of 2026.

The 17.3-inch laptop measures 402 x 265 x 28.6 mm, uses an aluminum display lid and weighs around 2.8 kg together with its 73 Wh battery.

16:9 WQHD display with 100 percent DCI-P3 and 240 Hz

The 16:9 display, rather unusual in 2025 instead of 16:10, nevertheless continues to enjoy consistently high demand, for example in the XMG FOCUS 17. During the "BLACK DEALS" discount campaign at XMG's partner shop bestware.com, this model alone accounts for 18 percent of all laptops sold. The FOCUS 17's affordable price for a device with an RTX 5070 Ti certainly also plays a role in this.

The same IPS panel with 2,560 x 1,440 pixels is also used in the XMG APEX 17. In addition to 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 and sRGB color spaces, the display offers a 240 Hz refresh rate and 300 nits of brightness. This makes the laptop well-suited for both demanding professional visual media production and high-frame-rate gaming.

Thanks to the connection via a MUX switch, it's possible to permanently switch to the dedicated NVIDIA graphics unit. XMG has integrated a Full HD webcam with temporary noise reduction and a physical privacy shutter at the top edge of the screen.

Up to 128 GB DDR5 RAM and 16 TB SSD storage

Two M.2 slots with PCI Express 4.0 connectivity allow for configurations of up to 16 TB of SSD storage, while additional thermal pads ensure improved temperatures and stable performance. Furthermore, the laptop offers two SO-DIMM slots for up to 128 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM.

Rear connections, up to three external monitors

On the back of the APEX 17, XMG has placed the Gigabit Ethernet port, HDMI 2.1 with 48 Gbps, USB-C 3.2 Gen2 with integrated DisplayPort 1.4a, and the power connector. On the sides of the laptop, there are also USB-A 3.2 Gen2 and USB-A 3.2 Gen1 ports, a 2-in-1 audio jack for headset and microphone, and another USB-C 3.2 Gen2 port with integrated DisplayPort 2.1 and DP40, as well as 100 W Power Delivery.

In addition to its internal display, the XMG APEX 17 can natively drive up to three external monitors. The HDMI and DisplayPort 2.1-enabled USB-C ports are directly connected to the dedicated NVIDIA graphics card, while the DisplayPort 1.4a-enabled USB-C port operates via AMD's energy-efficient iGPU. NVIDIA Optimus handles automatic switching between the integrated graphics unit and the dGPU on this port, depending on performance requirements.

The keyboard, with its customizable multi-color LED backlighting, not only features a full-size numeric keypad but also full-size arrow keys and an Fn lock function. Finally, there's a 150 x 90 mm touchpad with a glass-like surface.
