XMG EVO 15: Powerful 15.3-inch ultrabook with AMD or Intel CPUs

XMG's 15.3-inch aluminum ultrabook, the XMG EVO 15, follows the update of the already available EVO 14 and offers an even wider selection of processors. These include four AMD CPUs from the Hawk, Krackan, and Strix Point families, including the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, as well as an Intel Core Ultra 7 255H with some features exclusive to Intel's technology platform. Other specifications include a 99.8 Wh battery, a 500-nit 1600p display, extensive connectivity options, and up to 16 TB of SSD storage and 128 GB of DDR5 RAM – in the Intel-based version of the XMG EVO 15, with CSO DIMM support for speeds up to 6400 MT/s.

XMG EVO 15: Powerful Ultrabook with high CPU power limits

The XMG EVO 15 (E25, M25) expands XMG's Ultrabook series with the model offering the most flexible configuration options to date. The new 15.3-inch laptop features a fully aluminum chassis with an improved cooling system and a correspondingly adapted bottom panel, measuring 342 x 240 x 22 mm and weighing 1.75 kg.

In terms of processor selection, XMG goes a step further than with the smaller EVO 14 model, offering both AMD and Intel configurations. The XMG EVO 15 (E25) laptop can be configured with a Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, Ryzen AI 9 365, Ryzen AI 7 350, or a Ryzen 7 H 255 without an NPU for accelerating AI workloads – the latter being the new entry-level CPU for the already available EVO 14. The Intel-based XMG EVO 15 (M25), on the other hand, uses a Core Ultra 7 255H.

The EVO 15's dual-fan cooling system utilizes two 70 mm fans with 79 blades, two rear air outlets with 130 copper cooling fins, and Honeywell PTM7958 phase-changing thermal pads. Combined with its larger aluminum chassis compared to the EVO 14, the EVO 15 can sustain a maximum power consumption of 90 watts for both the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and the Core Ultra 7 255H processors in its highest "Overboost" performance profile.

500 nits bright 1600p display with 100 percent sRGB color gamut coverage

The 15.3-inch 16:10 IPS display of the XMG EVO 15 has a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, a brightness of 500 nits, 100% sRGB color gamut coverage, and supports FreeSync (AMD) and Adaptive Sync (Intel). The panel's refresh rate is 300 Hz, but this maximum is only achieved by the XMG EVO 15 (E25) with AMD processors. In the XMG EVO 15 (M25) with an Intel CPU, the Arc Graphics iGPU is technically limited to a maximum refresh rate of 240 Hz.

Furthermore, the display features one-handed opening up to 180 degrees and an alternative 60Hz mode for even more energy-efficient operation when needed. XMG has positioned a Windows Hello-compatible Full HD webcam with a physical privacy shutter at the top of the screen.

Two M.2 SSDs, up to 128 GB RAM, many external ports: Detailed differences between AMD and Intel

Platform-specific differences between AMD and Intel are evident in the storage and connectivity options. Both the EVO 15 (E25) and the EVO 15 (M25) feature two M.2 slots with PCI Express 4.0 for up to 16 TB of SSD storage and two SO-DIMM slots for up to 128 GB of RAM. The Intel-based EVO 15 (M25) supports not only standard DDR5-5600 SO-DIMM but also CSO-DIMM with speeds up to 6400 MT/s.

The external ports are physically identical, but differ in detail. On the back, all XMG EVO 15 models offer a Gigabit LAN port, HDMI, and USB-C with 140 watts power delivery (20 V, 7 A). The interface specifications vary depending on the CPU.

The sides of the ultrabook feature XMG integrated USB-C 3.2 Gen2 with DisplayPort 1.4a and 100-watt power delivery, three USB-A 3.2 Gen1 ports, a 2-in-1 audio jack for headset and microphone, and a fast, SD Express-compatible card reader for full-size SD memory cards. Wireless network connectivity is supported by Wi-Fi 7 (with Intel) or Wi-Fi 6E (with AMD), depending on the selected WLAN module.

The 99.8 Wh screw-in battery is charged exclusively via USB-C – primarily via the rear port at 140 watts (20 V, 7 A), or alternatively via the left port at 100 watts (20 V, 5 A). The 2025 EVO 15 uses the same power adapter as the EVO 14 (E25), a compact 150-watt model (20 V, 7.5 A) measuring 113.5 x 64.5 x 23 mm and weighing 495 g including the EU power plug.

Thanks to its edge-to-edge design, the keyboard of the 15.3-inch EVO 15 offers more features than that of the more compact EVO 14 – including a four-row numeric keypad, full-size, separate arrow keys, and dedicated navigation keys. In addition to multi-level white LED backlighting, users can choose between ISO and ANSI layouts. Furthermore, the EVO 15 is equipped with a Windows Precision-compatible, 123 x 77.5 mm glass touchpad.
