XMG EVO 14: Ultrabook with AMD Ryzen AI 300 series

The first model update for XMG's ultrabooks, introduced last year, is on the way. Leading the way is the XMG EVO 14, available with three different AMD Ryzen AI processors, up to the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. The 1800p display of the 1.45 kg laptop is brighter at 500 nits instead of 400. Features such as an 80 Wh battery, a dual-fan cooling system, numerous external ports, and removable SSDs and DDR5 RAM modules were already present in the previous model. However, the RAM is now configurable up to 128 GB.
XMG EVO 14 with a choice of three AMD Ryzen AI 300 CPUs
The EVO series, introduced in 2024, marked XMG's first ultrabooks to forgo a dedicated graphics card in favor of an efficient, integrated graphics solution. The 14-inch version of the XMG EVO 14 (E25) is the first to receive an update, launching with three AMD processors. In addition to AMD's Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 (12 cores, 24 threads), XMG also offers the compact 311 x 220 x 17 mm and 1.45 kg ultrabook with a Ryzen AI 9 365 (10 cores, 20 threads) and a Ryzen AI 7 350 (8 cores, 16 threads). This also entails differences in the graphics solution integrated into the CPU: With 16 Compute Units, the iGPU of the HX 370 has the highest 3D performance for accelerating content creation software or entry-level gaming.
A cooling system with two fans, each 47 mm in diameter, 7 mm high, and featuring 80 fan blades, two air outlets with 68 copper cooling fins, and phase-changing Honeywell PTM7958 thermal pads allows the processors to operate continuously at 65 watts. Maximum performance is available in the highest power profile, "Overboost," while XMG offers a balanced profile, "Enthusiast," below which it provides high performance with low noise. In the lowest profile, "Balanced," the EVO 14 operates very quietly, with the processor's power limit capped at 25 watts.
500 nits bright 1800p display with 100 percent sRGB color gamut coverage
In addition to the ability to open the screen with one hand up to 180 degrees, the 14-inch LTPS IPS display, with a resolution of 2880 x 1800 pixels and a 16:10 aspect ratio, offers a brightness of 500 nits, a 120 Hz refresh rate, 100% sRGB color gamut coverage, and AMD FreeSync support. An alternative 60 Hz mode allows for more energy-efficient operation and thus longer battery life when needed. The XMG EVO 14 features a Windows Hello-compatible Full HD webcam with a physical privacy shutter positioned at the top of the screen.
80 Wh battery with USB-C charging option
Charging the 80 Wh battery, which is screwed into the ultrabook, is done exclusively via USB-C – either via the rear or the left-side port, both delivering 100 watts (20 V, 5 A). Customers who already own a compatible USB-C power adapter can deselect the EVO 14's power adapter during the ordering process at the partner shop bestware.com. XMG includes a new 150-watt power adapter (20 V, 7.5 A) as standard, providing more power than is required for 100 watts of Power Delivery. This adapter is smaller (113.5 x 64.5 x 23 mm instead of 124 x 64 x 28 mm) and slightly lighter (495 g instead of 511 g including EU power plug) compared to the previous 100-watt adapter used in the 2024 model generation.
Up to two M.2 SSDs and 128 GB DDR5 RAM, many external ports
Especially for a 14-inch ultrabook, the XMG EVO 14 impresses with its extensive configuration options for SSDs and RAM, as well as a large number of ports. Two M.2 slots with thermal pads and PCI Express 4.0 x4 allow for up to 16 TB of storage. In addition, the laptop offers two SO-DIMM slots for RAM and is available in configurations with up to 128 GB (2 x 64) DDR5, with a maximum data transfer rate of 5600 MT/s. At the same time, the older EVO 14 (M24) model is also receiving a 128 GB RAM upgrade option.
The XMG EVO 14 (E25) offers extensive connectivity, including a Thunderbolt 4-enabled USB4 port with DisplayPort 2.1 (UHBR10, DP40) and an additional USB-C 3.2 Gen2 port with DisplayPort 1.4a, two USB-A 3.1 Gen1 ports, USB-A 2.0, HDMI 2.1 (32 Gbit/s), Gigabit LAN and Wi-Fi 6E, a 2-in-1 audio jack for headset and microphone, and a fast, SD Express-compatible card reader for full-size SD memory cards.
The XMG EVO 15 will be updated later – the older 2024 model series will remain available in parallel for the time being.
An update to the XMG EVO 15, to the E25 model version with AMD Ryzen AI 300 processors, is already in development. The announcement with all technical details will follow at a later date. Exclusively for the 15.3-inch model, XMG is also planning a model option with CPUs from the Intel Core Ultra 200H series, which the company expects to be available in the second half of the year. The older M24 model generation of the XMG EVO 14 and EVO 15, with either an AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS or an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H, will remain available for the time being – a decision primarily due to the higher price point of the new hardware generation.
Prices and availability
The basic equipment of the freely configurable [product/service] on bestware.com It features an AMD Ryzen AI 7 350, 16 GB (2x8) of DDR5-5600 RAM, a 500 GB SSD, and an 1800p display with 500 nits of brightness. The starting price, including 19% VAT, is €1,049. Upgrades to an AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 (€125) or Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 (€290) are available for an additional charge. The ultrabook is available now with AMD's Ryzen AI 7 350 and Ryzen AI 9 HX 370; the configuration with the Ryzen AI 9 365 is expected to follow at the end of July.
