Put together the optimum desktop PC with the PC configurator from bestware

All components that we offer you for your new PC have been intensively tested and are fully compatible with each other in every selectable combination. So don't worry when choosing - you can't go wrong in our configurator.

In the following, we give you an overview of the various components from which our desktop PCs are made up. We also explain what you should look for when choosing the best PC for gaming, video editing and more, and show you which graphics card or processor you really need.

The latest desktop processors from Intel and AMD

The processor (CPU) is the heart of every computer. It is the central processing unit of the system and performs the most important computing and control operations. Therefore, the computing power of the processor is also decisive for how fast the programmes installed on the desktop PC can work.

The more powerful a CPU is, the more machine instructions per second (IPC) the PC can execute.

The total performance of a modern processor is determined by the number of cores and threads, the IPC performance and still also the clock frequency. Whereas the latter used to be considered the sole performance indicator, today it is mainly used to compare two CPUs of the same generation and series: the higher the clock frequency with an identical number of cores, the higher the performance.

In our desktop PC configurator, we rely on the chip manufacturers AMD and Intel, the undisputed market leaders in the processor segment, and offer you the latest and fastest CPUs for your new desktop PC.

Which processor do you need for office, gaming or other applications on your desktop PC?

CPUs from Intel's 13th Core generation and the AMD Ryzen 7000 series are the cutting edge of current desktop PC technology. Even most entry-level CPUs like the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X or the Intel Core i5-13600K offer 8 cores or 14 cores and 12 or 20 threads. This means that you can get a desktop PC at a low price that is not only adequate for office tasks, but whose processor is also fully capable of gaming.

Demanding users and gamers go for the AMD Ryzen 7 7700X or Intel Core i7-13700K with 8 (AMD) or 8 performance and 8 efficiency cores (Intel). These are easily enough for simultaneous streaming and gaming and provide excellent performance in applications.

The current flagship CPUs in the consumer sector are the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X with 16 cores and the Intel Core i9-13900K with 8 performance and 16 efficiency cores. Thanks to their high number of cores, you can configure a desktop PC that scores as a powerful workstation for rendering, video editing and photo editing, for example.

High-end graphics cards

The graphics card is responsible for the visual display of content on your monitor. It is therefore essential for the use of a desktop PC. But how does the image get onto your screen?

Within the programming code in a software, commands are processed which are forwarded to the operating system. Subsequently, a suitable driver of the graphics card can translate this code, which has been processed by OpenGL or DirectX.

The individual pixels that are displayed on the monitor move through pipelines. So-called shaders are responsible for giving these pixels colour or shapes. As soon as the image has been completely calculated, the graphics card starts again from the beginning with the calculation of the next image to be displayed on the monitor of your desktop PC.

With graphics cards, we need to differentiate between integrated and dedicated GPUs. Integrated graphics is a cost-effective option for displaying an image when doing simple tasks such as surfing the internet or working in office applications: the graphics chip is integrated directly into the processor. Current iGPUs are also even suitable for simple games.

Dedicated graphics cards, on the other hand, are a separate component in the desktop PC and have their own separate graphics memory (VRAM) as well as a cooling unit. As a result, the performance is many times higher than that of an integrated graphics unit, which means that demanding games and complex graphics projects can be displayed and calculated in high quality.

Which graphics card do you need for gaming and GPU acceleration of video and photo software?

For office and multimedia applications, an integrated graphics solution (iGPU) is all you need in your desktop PC. To enjoy your new desktop PC with less graphically complex games and applications, we recommend at least an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 or AMD Radeon RX 6600. These graphics cards are easily powerful enough for many popular and not too graphically complex e-sports titles.

To be able to play current AAA games with very high quality settings, you should at least go for the GeForce RTX 3060, RTX 3060 Ti or Radeon RX 6600 XT.

If you use a monitor with a higher resolution than 1920 x 1080 pixels, your graphics card must process more pixels accordingly. For a WQHD monitor (2560 x 1440 pixels) you should configure your desktop PC with at least a Geforce 3070, 3070 Ti or a Radeon RX 6800.

For 4K gaming in UHD resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels), on the other hand, the even more powerful GeForce RTX 4070 Ti and 4080 with a whopping 12 or 16 GB of GDDR6X memory, as well as the Radeon RX 6800 and RX 6800 XT, each with 16 GB of GDDR6, are the right choice.

In the high-end range, NVIDIA offers the even more powerful GeForce 4090 graphics cards with 24 GB GDDR6X. AMD's counterpart in this performance class is the Radeon RX 7900 XTX with 24 GB GDDR6 VRAM. These are aimed at gamers who want to get the best possible graphics out of their games and professional users who depend on maximum performance for rendering, for example.

In our bestware PC configurator you will find a selection of the best graphics cards with custom designs from Asus, MSI and Zotac, so that you can configure your desktop PC individually according to your preferences. These cards are characterised by optimised, quiet cooling and top performance.

Both NVIDIA's RTX and AMD's RX series already have everything you need to display ray tracing effects. Basically, the faster the graphics card, the better its ray tracing capabilities.

Mainboards - The foundation for your PC configuration

The mainboard or motherboard is the fundamental part of a PC on which other hardware components can be installed. The processor, RAM, graphics card and internal drives such as hard disks and SSDs are connected via slots on the mainboard.

In addition, the mainboard offers various connection options for external hard disks, input devices and controllers, printers, PC speakers or powerful sound systems as well as other peripherals. Depending on the motherboard, you have the option of connecting storage and other devices such as a mouse or keyboard via USB Type-A or Type-C. If you use a processor with integrated graphics, the motherboard also has a monitor connection such as DisplayPort or HDMI.

The mainboard also has audio jacks for the integrated sound card, so you can connect your speakers or a headset and microphone. You can access the internet with your desktop PC using a cable and the RJ45 connector - depending on the model, via Gigabit LAN or even via a 2.5 Gigabit connection. Many mainboards also come with their own WLAN card with Bluetooth for wireless connections.

Mainboards differ in the number of available slots and ports, the overclocking capabilities to achieve higher CPU clock speeds, the design and other additional features. We guarantee that all components offered in the configurator for desktop PCs can be perfectly installed on the offered motherboards and run stable, so you don't have to worry about the compatibility of the different components.

High-performance memory enables smooth multitasking

The more RAM is installed in your desktop PC, the more applications can run in parallel without the computer slowing down. Data and programmes are temporarily stored in RAM (random access memory). The processor can access this data directly, which drastically increases the speed of working in your software.

RAM is a volatile memory: if you switch off your computer, the data in the RAM disappears - in contrast to the SSD or hard disk, which are non-volatile memories and store the data permanently.

Especially in games, you benefit from a lot of RAM, because then as much data as possible can be stored in the very fast memory of your computer. But also when editing high-resolution images or videos, as much RAM as possible offers you a decisive advantage, so that even very large photos fit completely into the RAM and can be edited smoothly.

In the desktop PCs from bestware, two or four RAM modules are installed. This allows the use of dual or quad channel modes, which increases the maximum possible data throughput and makes everything run a little faster. As with the CPU, a higher clock frequency also stands for more performance with the RAM.

We provide you with the latest generation of high-performance RAM in our PCs. These currently include DDR5-5600 and DDR5-4800 as well as DDR4-3200 and DDR4-3600.

How much RAM do you need in a desktop PC?

If you use your desktop PC primarily for simple office programmes and surfing the internet, 8 GB RAM is sufficient. For gaming, on the other hand, we recommend at least 16 GB RAM, and 32 GB is a future-proof configuration.

For creative professionals, there is no question about the amount of memory - the answer is always "as much as possible". If you use your desktop PC as a powerful workstation, you should configure 64 GB or 128 GB DDR4 or DDR5 RAM.

The SSDs and hard disks in our desktop PCs provide fast booting and plenty of storage

When it comes to the hard disks installed, we distinguish between HDDs and SSDs. An HDD (Hard Disk Drive) is usually 3.5" in size and works mechanically. It consists of several magnetic disks and a read and write head.

The magnetic discs rotate permanently during operation. The read and write head swings over them to read and write the data. Unlike an SSD, an HDD offers you a large amount of storage for relatively little money - perfect for large collections of documents, music, photos or videos.

SSDs, on the other hand, have no moving parts, so they make no noise and operate completely noiselessly. They are based on flash memory modules and a controller that writes your data to or reads it from the memory chips. If you choose an operating system for your desktop PC (which is not selected by default in the configurator), we will automatically install it on the SSD.

An SSD is many times faster than a conventional HDD. Even the most modern mechanical hard disks operate at a maximum of around 300 MB/s. In contrast, the fastest SSDs, such as a Samsung SSD 990 PRO, achieve up to 6900 MB/s when writing and up to 7450 MB/s when reading.

If the operating system is installed on an SSD, you benefit from a fast system start. In addition, the loading times of games and other applications stored on the SSD are significantly reduced.

SSDs are available in 2.5" format, among others - these are connected like a mechanical hard drive via the SATA controller on the motherboard and accordingly only achieve a maximum write speed of about 550 MB/s.

The latest NVMe SSDs, on the other hand, come in M.2 card format and are connected via four PCI Express 4.0 lanes or four PCI Express 5.0 lanes on current mainboards for AMD and Intel processors. High-end models use both an SLC and a DRAM cache so you can take full advantage of the bandwidth in your desktop PC.

With Seagate, Western Digital, Samsung, Crucial and Corsair, we work with the world's most established storage manufacturers. We not only aim to provide you with the highest possible write and read rates in your desktop PC, but also guarantee a maximum reliability of our PC systems.

High-end CPU coolers for the best possible cooling performance

With the desktop PCs that we offer you at bestware, you can get the maximum out of every application. However, optimum processing power also requires excellent cooling.

Air cooling as processor cooling works as follows: When operating, the CPU generates heat. A heat spreader located on the processor and dissipates the heat. In order for the processor to work with maximum performance and low temperatures, a powerful cooler is required. A heat-conducting medium that compensates for microscopic irregularities guarantees optimum contact between the heatspreader and the cooler.

For this purpose, we use Liquid Metal in many desktop PCs: Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut is one of the best heat conductors around. The CPU cooler picks up the heat via a base plate and transfers it to the heat pipes. These in turn transfer the heat to a large cooling block made of aluminium fins, which is actively cooled by a fan.

With partners such as Noctua or be quiet!, we can offer you high-quality air cooling for your desktop PC, so that it not only offers optimum performance, but also remains whisper-quiet.

As an alternative to air cooling, we also have high-performance compact liquid cooling systems (AIOs) in our portfolio.

With these, the heat from the components is transferred via a water circuit through tubes from the CPU to a 240, 280 or 360 mm radiator. The radiator is attached to an outer side of the PC chassis and is also actively cooled by several fans to drive the heat out of the chassis.

To guarantee you an optimal cooling result, we install the high-performance Corsair iCUE H150i Elite Capellix XT in our desktop PCs, for example. This compact water cooling system works particularly quietly and combines an elegant design with high cooling capacity. Three 120 mm fans allow for a perfect air flow and thus for ideal cooling performance in your desktop PC.

A fully water-cooled desktop PC with custom water cooling takes this a step further: here, in addition to the processor, other components such as the graphics card are integrated into the cooling circuit. The bottom line is that a fully water-cooled desktop PC is superior to a system with air cooling of individual components: The system runs quieter, cooler and thus gives you more flexibility for overclocking your components.

Stable, reliable power supply for your desktop PC: Quiet and powerful PSUs

A PC power supply unit handles the power supply of all components in your PC. You connect your desktop PC to the 230 volt mains and the power supply then generates the voltages you need for your hardware: 12 volts, 5 volts and 3.3 volts.

The power supplies in our desktop PCs come from our partner Seasonic, a leading manufacturer known for its uncompromisingly powerful, quiet and high-quality power supplies. This guarantees a safe, stable power supply even in the absolute full-load range.

Seasonic power supply units from the FOCUS Plus and Prime model series are also renowned for their maximum efficiency. Accordingly, they feature an 80 PLUS Gold, 80 PLUS Platinum or even 80 PLUS Titanium certificate.

The more efficiently the power supply works, the less power is wasted. In addition, highly efficient power supply units in desktop PCs generate less heat. Therefore, they can be cooled very quietly or even work semi-passively when under partial-load.

This means that the power supply fan only starts up when your PC is under heavy load. In office mode or when surfing, however, the power supply unit works silently.

How many watts should a PC power supply unit have?

In the bestware PC configurator, we always indicate which performance class you need for a power supply unit: the more powerful the graphics card you have chosen for your new desktop PC, the more powerful the power supply should be.

For a GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, you should choose a PSU with at least 750 watts, and for an RTX 4090, a model with 1000 watts.

Elegant PC chassis with smart cable management

In order to be able to assure you that all components fit 100% into the chassis of your desktop PC, we have already defined this as the configuration basis. All PC cases are of excellent quality and ensure that there is optimal airflow inside.

Premium cases, such as the Corsair 500D Airflow or the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv X, are not only striking for their high-quality appearance and excellent build quality. A side window made of tempered glass and components made of aluminium add up to a great look. The Corsair chassis also offers space for a total of up to ten 120 mm fans to provide optimum cooling for your new system.

When integrating the components, we pay attention to clever cable management, which ensures that you can effortlessly service your PC and that the visual appearance of the hardware takes centre stage.

In addition to the cable management, the controllable full RGB lighting in combination with the glass window provides a further eye-catcher. Our chassis have an integrated fan control so that you can easily control both the noise level and the temperature of your system. Thanks to the inclusion of dust filters, you no longer need to worry about having to clean the desktop PC after just a few weeks.

Entry-level vs. extreme - Which desktop PC is right for me?

At bestware, we aim to provide you with the best possible hardware experience in every respect, whether it's for productive work or a gaming session. From casual gamers who play a game now and then to gaming enthusiasts and professional content creators, we offer the right desktop PC for every budget.

Basic: Entry-level desktop PC with solid performance

Our entry into the world of PC systems is aimed at all those who spend most of their time in office applications and rarely play games or use performance-hungry programmes. These computers are characterised by their reliability and high stability. They also have enough power to handle simple games on standard settings.

We start in this segment with Intel Core i5 processors of the latest generation or AMD Ryzen 5 processors. If you want to play games on the system occasionally, we recommend configuring 16 GB of RAM and at least an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 graphics card or an AMD Radeon RX 6600. A simple, integrated graphics card and 8 GB of RAM are enough for a desktop PC for surfing, word processing and social media.

Mid-budget: Desktop PC for gaming and working with mid-range performance

In the mid-range, we offer desktop PCs that are capable of playing all gaming titles in Full HD resolution and with high details. Video editing and video processing are also possible at a high level with these systems.

An NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 or 3060 Ti or an AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT will get you started in mid-range gaming. With a powerful Intel Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 7 CPU, you are ready for demanding tasks.

If you are looking for a desktop PC for WQHD gaming, you should configure a more powerful graphics card. We recommend a GeForce RTX 3070 or 3070 Ti or a Radeon RX 6800 or 6800 XT. 16 GB of RAM is also a good choice for a mid-range PC; for more future-proofing, you can also configure 32 GB.

High-end budget: Maximum performance

Our high-end desktop systems are aimed at those who always want to get the maximum out of them. If you're looking for a PC for 4K gaming or complex video editing in 4K with 60 FPS or even 8K recordings, an Intel Core i9 or an AMD Ryzen 9 is a good choice. For the graphics card, the rule is: use whatever your budget allows; there is hardly any upper limit to get the absolute best graphics quality and maximum GPU performance.

Suitable graphics cards from NVIDIA are the GeForce RTX 4080 or even RTX 4090. From AMD, you should go for the Radeon RX 7900 XT or RX 79000 XTX. When it comes to RAM, it should be at least 32 GB DDR4 or DDR5 and here too: the more, the better.

VR gaming or the professional use of virtual reality also requires maximum graphics performance, because the latest VR glasses or VR headsets come with a remarkably high resolution.
