XMG FUSION 16: Core Ultra 275HX, RTX 5070/60, optional OLED display

With the XMG FUSION 16, XMG introduces the Intel-based counterpart to the CORE 16 with the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, which, however, uses a significantly more powerful Core Ultra 9 275HX CPU. This choice comes with additional premium features such as PCI Express 5.0 support for the primary SSD, faster CSO DIMM RAM, and Thunderbolt 4. The FUSION 16 can also be configured with a GeForce RTX 5070 or 5060 graphics card. Unlike the CORE 16, however, XMG offers not only the familiar 1600p IPS panel but also an optional 1800p OLED panel. Features such as the 99.8 Wh battery, up to 128 GB of RAM, and 16 TB of SSD storage remain identical.

XMG FUSION 16: Light and fast with Core Ultra 9 275HX, RTX 5070 or 5060

XMG is continuing its strategy, begun in 2025, of offering as many laptop models as possible in both Intel and AMD versions. In this vein, the XMG FUSION 16 (M25), equipped with Intel's Core Ultra 9 275HX, is the counterpart to the recently introduced CORE 16 (M25) with AMD's Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. However, the Intel processor, with its 24 cores (8 P-cores and 16 E-cores), offers significantly more multi-core performance than AMD's 12-core CPU.

Given its low weight of only 2.1 to 2.2 kg – the model variant with an OLED display is slightly lighter – the Core Ultra 9 from Intel's high-end HX series is an unusually powerful choice. The laptop's aluminum chassis is identical to that of the CORE 16 (M25), also measuring 357 x 254 x 23 mm, and integrates a 99.8 Wh battery. External power is supplied by a 240-watt power adapter. XMG offers a GeForce RTX 5070 or 5060 graphics card with NVIDIA's maximum specified graphics performance of 115 watts, including 15 watts of Dynamic Boost.

The dual-fan cooling system is largely identical to that of the CORE 16; however, the FUSION 16 uses two fans with diameters of 84 and 80 mm, meaning the slightly larger second fan offers a higher airflow volume and consequently greater cooling performance. The laptop draws in fresh air from the underside and the keyboard area. The CPU and GPU are equipped with phase-changing Honeywell PTM7958 thermal pads, and the two air vents with heatsinks, comprising a total of 153 copper cooling fins, are located on the rear of the device.

That's enough to make the XMG FUSION 16 a very powerful laptop in the 2.1 kg class in terms of CPU performance, as a look at the power limits shows:

The XMG Control Center offers several performance profiles for everything from maximum performance to very quiet everyday operation, along with further settings to define the ideal balance between high performance and low operating noise according to personal preference. In addition to adjusting the fan curves, it is also possible to set the power limits for the Core Ultra 9 275HX (PL1: 10–145 watts; PL2: 10–155 watts; PL4: 20–290 watts) and the RTX 5070 or 5060 (50–115 watts).

1600p IPS display with 300 Hz or 1800p OLED display with maximum color brilliance

Unlike the XMG CORE 16, the new XMG FUSION 16 offers a choice of two 16-inch displays. The anti-glare IPS panel, with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, a 300 Hz refresh rate, 500 nits brightness, and 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 and sRGB color spaces, is already familiar from other 2025 16-inch laptops from the brand. The Control Center offers not only color-calibrated display profiles but also the option to switch the refresh rate to energy-saving 240 Hz or 60 Hz.

As an optional upgrade, XMG equips the FUSION 16 with an even higher-resolution OLED panel featuring 2,880 x 1,800 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, 400 nits brightness, and 100% DCI-P3 and sRGB color gamut coverage. In addition to the higher pixel density, the display boasts the perfect black levels and vibrant colors typical of this technology. XMG also provides color-calibrated profiles and a 60 Hz mode for this panel in the Control Center.

Up to 128 GB DDR5 RAM and 16 TB SSD storage including CSO-DIMM and PCIe 5.0

Unlike the AMD-based CORE 16, the Intel-based XMG FUSION 16, equipped with up to 128 GB of DDR5 RAM and two M.2 slots, features two key differences: The laptop connects its primary SSD slot via PCI Express 5.0 x4 instead of PCI Express 4.0 and also supports faster CSO DIMM memory with speeds up to 6400 MT/s. Heat sinks and pads ensure improved cooling of the storage drives and RAM.

Extensive connection options and many rear-mounted connections

Due to its very close relationship to the CORE 16, it is not surprising that the XMG FUSION 16's connectivity options are very similar – however, there are also differences, with Thunderbolt 4 instead of USB4 and Ethernet with 2.5 instead of just one Gigabit.

On the rear panel are XMG Thunderbolt 4 with DP80-capable DisplayPort 2.1 and 140 watts Power Delivery (20 V, 7 A), another DP40-capable Mini DisplayPort 2.1, HDMI 2.1 with 48 Gbps, and the power connector. The remaining external connectivity includes USB-C 3.2 Gen2 with DisplayPort 1.4a and 100 watts Power Delivery, three USB-A 3.2 Gen1 ports, a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port, a 2-in-1 audio jack for headset and microphone, and an SD Express-compatible card reader for full-size memory cards. For wireless networking, the FUSION 16 uses either Wi-Fi 7 or Wi-Fi 6E, depending on the selected Wi-Fi module.

The Mini DisplayPort and HDMI ports are directly connected to the dedicated NVIDIA dGPU, while the DisplayPort functionality of the USB-C and Thunderbolt ports is connected to the power-saving iGPU of the Intel processor. This allows the XMG FUSION 16 to natively drive up to four external monitors in addition to its integrated display.

RGB keyboard with N-key rollover and numeric keypad

The keyboard is a model used in most of XMG's 2025 laptops. Functionally, this means per-key RGB backlighting, N-key rollover, anti-ghosting, a full numeric keypad, full-size, separate arrow keys, and concave keycaps. The 123 x 77.5 mm glass-like Mylar touchpad is also already used in many other XMG laptops. A Windows Hello-compatible Full HD webcam with a physical cover is located at the top of the display.
